Wedding decoration is one of the most important elements of the wedding day, because decorations create the overall atmosphere of the wedding and create a sense of celebration for the guests. Wedding decoration is created by the decorator based on the wishes of the couple, so it is important to find a professional decorator who will be able to understand the dreams of the couple and make them come true. When working with a decorator, there are several nuances that must be taken into account in order for your cooperation to be successful. Let's look at two situations that brides most often encounter when planning their own wedding.

Unexpected increase in design costs

Situation: The bride is looking for a decorator for the wedding. She has conducted a price survey among decorators and selected the one who gave the best price. The bride has said she wants the cost of the decoration to be included in amount X. The decorator agreed. However, when the bride contacted the decorator a month before the wedding to clarify the final costs, it turned out that the final amount was two and a half times more than the bride's stated amount X. How!?

It turns out that the decorator did not specify that he calculates the costs of his work and transportation separately, and not in the total cost of the design, which the bride had mentioned. Also, at the time of ordering the flowers, it turned out that they had increased in price, so they now cost more. The bride got into a very bad situation - either she agrees to pay 2.5 times more, or she will be left without a presentation on the wedding day.

Recommendations to prevent such a situation:

1. If the decorator names an amount that is much lower than other decorators on the market, it is immediately clear that there are some underwater stones. Most likely, he did not name a part of the cost or misunderstood the wishes of the bride or his task. It is better to think 100 times before taking such a decorator.
2. It should be specified whether the sum includes ALL costs related to the decorator's work - flowers, floristic materials, decor rental, decorator's work before the wedding, on the wedding day and after the wedding, as well as transportation costs.
3. In order to avoid unpleasant situations with rising costs due to flower prices before the wedding, it is better not to specify the specific varieties of flowers to the decorator, but to discuss the overall style and color range of the design. In that case, when ordering flowers, the decorator will be able to choose those flowers (of course, in the desired color) that are more advantageous in terms of prices in order to maintain the overall volume of the design.

The wedding design does not meet expectations

Situation: The bride has booked a decorator, described her wishes and sent pictures that she likes. The decorator said that he understood everything, everything will be done. However, on the day of the wedding, when she saw the design, the bride was dissatisfied, because the result did not completely match what she had expected. Even the design color was wrong, the bride had sent pictures with burgundy tones, but called it red when writing, and the decorator created a red design.

Recommendations to prevent such a situation:

1. When sending pictures to the decorator, it is imperative that you describe in maximum detail what you like in each particular picture in text form. It often happens that the same picture can be perceived in different ways, because one, for example, the bride looks specifically at the color of the design, and the decorator - at the shapes and layout of the compositions. Then there is a misunderstanding.
2. In order for the decorator to understand the wishes more precisely, it is better to send 2-3 pictures where you like the color combination (even though the design itself may be inappropriate), 2-3 pictures where you like the table setting, 3 pictures where you like the shape of the flower arrangements, etc. This way, the decorator will be able to understand what these pictures have in common, and it will become much clearer to him what you want.
3. Be sure to say what you DON'T LIKE about the design to exclude coincidences.
4. A professional decorator will always send a file with a description of the design and a moodboard with pictures. Of course, these pictures are illustrative and will definitely not be identical, but if there is a detail in the pictures that you don't like, you must tell the decorator.
5. If you are not clear about what you specifically want, it is better to ask the decorator for advice rather than sending at least something. By talking with the decorator, you will come to an option together that you will really like.
6. On the wedding day, there must be a responsible person who will check on the spot during the decoration whether everything is going as planned. In the event that something does not meet the bride's wishes, it may still be possible to fix it before the celebration begins. This person can become a wedding coordinator.
