If there's one takeaway from New York Bridal Fashion Week, it's that bridal designers are once again taking risks. After a few seasons of all-white collections, wedding dresses in different shades appeared in several collections. Pastels such as soft blues and blushes are inherently dreamy choices, while dramatic florals and metallics are perfect for bolder brides. Attractive feathers or feather tassels can enhance any wedding dress silhouette and add fun, lightness and airiness to your day's celebratory vibe. Incorporate art deco style - choose to embellish your cleavage or the hem of your mini dress with feathers. Feeling brave enough? Consider a feather-embellished bridal trouser suit—the perfect combination of structure and texture.

3. Gloves

Bridgerton and Gilded Age fans, this is the trend for you. Bridal gloves, whether fingerless, opera-style or wrist-length, are all about old-world romance. Almost all of the Bridal Fashion Week collections featured gloves, which leads us to believe that this is a highly polished trend that won't be going away anytime soon. Similar to other wedding accessories such as veils, headbands and hair bows, bridal gloves add a layer of elegance to your wedding day look. Plus, gloves are available in a variety of fabrics, styles and colors for every wedding aesthetic even if Regency Era isn't your thing.

4. Cloaks

No veil? No problem! If veils aren't your thing, consider a cape wedding dress instead. this less popular wedding day accessory offers the same photogenic movement as a veil, adds red carpet glamor and you can remove it after the ceremony without ruining your hairstyle. Some of our favorite styles featured embroidered lace, constellation-inspired beading, cascading sequins and dramatic ruffles.

5. Ruffles

If there's ever a moment to wear a romantic outfit, it's definitely your wedding day. And there is nothing more romantic than a dress with ruffles. Softer and a bit more traditional than feather embellishments, ruffles add just the right amount of whimsy to any silhouette to still look classic. Ball gowns with opulent ruffles were the highlight of several collections, while dramatic mermaid gowns with ruffled skirts have also made a comeback.

6. Bows

The dream of every girl who loved Barbie. We can't help but notice that the resurgence of Barbie and her impeccable style has something to do with bridal designers' current obsession with that classic element - the bow. Bows have, of course, been a signature piece of bridal looks for years, but this season they're everywhere—the bigger, the better. Back bows add an update to even the most classic silhouette, while puff sleeves take the trend to the next level. If big bows aren't your thing, you can opt for a more subtle detail on the skirt (we liked the sparkly ones we saw on Honor ).

7. Deep neckline or corset without straps

While long sleeves and puffy sleeves have been popular for several years, the strapless silhouette is back—with some more 2000s-inspired flavor, of course. Originally popular in the early aughts, corset bodices with contoured necklines are back on TOP. this flattering style accentuates the cleavage, neck and shoulders and offers more support than a strapless straight neckline if you have a larger bust. And while this 2023 wedding dress trend is a nod to the past, strapless necklines suit almost any wedding dress silhouette: classic with heavy satin, romantic with sheer tulle, or modern with fitted crepe.

8. Different levels

If TikTok has taught us anything, it's that 2000s trends are back in both streetwear and wedding wear. A wedding dress with this unique hem offers the best of both worlds, offering the formal feel of a longer gown and the chance to show off your wedding shoes and your beautiful legs. Plus, if you're looking for two wedding looks in one, there are more recent versions: many have overskirts that you can remove to reveal a minidress underneath.

While slip dresses are still on our radar (more on this trend below), maximalist ball gowns also took everyone by storm at New York Bridal Fashion Week. the reason for this bridal fashion change? With the return of larger weddings comes equally sophisticated silhouettes. Each collection featured ball gowns with very full skirts, decadent fabrics and beading. If you're looking to make your wedding day look luxurious and stand out, consider giving this voluminous silhouette a chance.

10. Slip dresses

Influenced by Carolyn Bessette Kennedy's iconic wedding style, the image of the 90s bride was associated with the sleek and elegant style of slip dresses. As the name suggests, this svelte silhouette resembles flowing lines, has thin straps and is usually made from a delicate silk or lace fabric. this supposedly modest style is currently experiencing a resurgence in bridal fashion, both as a wedding dress and as a bridesmaid dress option. this lingerie-inspired look works best with strappy sandals and delicate jewelry.
