Most likely, mistakes cannot be avoided during wedding planning, but there are some that are better to learn from than to experience yourself.
Līgavām.lv gives you the opportunity to avoid the 5 most typical wedding planning mistakes!
- LEAVE THE GUEST LIST LAST. The excitement of the engagement event is so great and the preparation for the wedding seems so exciting that we often want to start from the other end - think about flowers, discuss the wedding venue and decide on caterers. However, before embarking on all these things, you should think about and decide on the guest list. The number of guests will depend on the choice of ceremony and celebration venue, the cost of catering services and other important aspects. Planning the guest list, of course, is not the most fun and pleasant activity at the beginning of wedding planning, but it is definitely the most necessary!
- DO EVERYTHING YOURSELF! Self, self, self - this is definitely not the right attitude for a calm time of wedding preparations. Do-it-yourself or so-called do it yourself projects are undeniably valuable, as long as you don't turn the entire wedding preparation time into one big DIY project. You can choose and highlight a project, such as preparing 200 lace jars for decoration purposes, but you shouldn't do it all. Even if you have decided that you will organize the wedding yourself, without the involvement of wedding planners or ushers, it would be advisable to find reliable helpers who, for example, will decorate or take care of organizational matters on the wedding day itself (and there will definitely be some!).
- CREATES DRAMA IN UNNECESSARY THINGS! Every bride will always have one thing that will be more important than others in terms of importance. There will be brides who will focus more on their appearance and will survive if another bride could even have a similar dress, another will consider the flowers as the most important detail of the wedding, and another will consider the table setting. Most often, this focus on certain things leads to unnecessary worries, tears and drama. At such moments, every bride should take a deep breath and answer the question, how important will this thing be to me in 10 years? It's likely that the fake tablecloth won't seem important in 10 years, so why spoil the wedding preparations by worrying about it now?
- NOT IN THE BUDGET! Unless the wedding is on a budget, couples often cannot fit into the originally allocated wedding budget. However, if this happens, you should not panic, but both of you should sit down together and figure out what it would be possible to save for. If the bride wants an expensive dress, then if the wedding takes place in autumn, you will be able to save on flowers, for example, if instead of peonies sent from abroad, you choose gorgeous dahlias in different colors and available here in Latvia - they are definitely the queens of autumn and you should not underestimate their beauty. If, however, you want to keep all the previous wedding positions and you see taking a financial loan as a solution, we recommend that you both carefully analyze the repayment terms together, so that it does not become a heavy burden later.
- TRYING TO LOSE WEIGHT BEFORE THE LAST DRESS MEASUREMENT! Brides always want to look better and, whatever the size of their clothes, they try to lose some extra kilos before the wedding. However, the worst time to do this is shortly before the last measurement of the dress. It is even more insane to buy a dress a few sizes too small and hope that in a few months the weight will be lost so that the dress will fit. Firstly, rapid weight loss is not the healthiest solution and secondly, there is no guarantee that even if you do succeed, the dress will fit and look great on you. It is better to buy or order from a seamstress a dress that you are sure of - this is REAL and meant just for ME!
