AN OPTION FOR THE BRAVE - A WEDDING IN THE FREE NATURE

AN OPTION FOR THE BRAVE - A WEDDING IN THE FREE NATURE

Those couples who plan to get married next summer are most likely currently actively searching for a place for the wedding ceremony and celebration. Although outdoor weddings are nothing new, they are still a challenge, especially in Latvia's unpredictable weather. However, if this dream plan succeeds, the result will most likely be just as good and many times better than originally planned. We asked wedding organizer Lita Brewer / DREAM AGENCY about what should be taken into account when holding an outdoor wedding.

Plan "B" also outdoors

Wedding organizer Lita Brewer has observed that a large number of couples would like to have their wedding outdoors. "When preparing for a wedding and exploring the vast photo of wedding pictures available on Pinterest , there are so many beautiful pictures of weddings in Italy, France, Spain, Malta and other warmer countries where the rain and wind do not come as a surprise, as it is in our latitudes. This is also the biggest fear that most couples think about the idea at the root.

However, there are some brave ones. These are couples who want to fulfill their dream and do not consider the weather to be an obstacle. They have confidence in what they really want and need. An outdoor wedding is exactly what they need to make their special day perfect, and it doesn't matter whether it's raining, windy, or happily, the sun is shining.

Of course, the issue of the weather will surely come up at some point, and worries will probably creep in imperceptibly," Lita Brewer is convinced. She recommends -

plan “B” is needed to reduce anxiety. “But this plan has to go hand in hand with the original idea – an outdoor wedding.

It can be a canopy pitched in the forest in a pine grove, in the middle of a rye field or on the shore of a lake. On the fateful day, this allows you to choose whether to plan all the activities under it, or whether it is possible to divide them - under a canopy lit with small lamps, which will create a wonderful dance floor when it gets dark, but set up a feast with tables outside," says Lita.

There will be people who will try to talk you out of it!

When organizing a wedding, Lita has noticed that there will always be people who will try to convince the couple that an outdoor wedding is a crazy idea and will come up with many other suggestions on how and where to celebrate this event better.

"It is for this reason that special consideration must be given to the invited guests, indicating in the invitation to choose comfortable clothing and shoes, as well as to provide warm outerwear.

If an overnight stay is planned, for example in tents that you do not provide, then it must be stated that it is necessary to take it with you and provide a time when the guests can put them up. That is, it is necessary to prepare the guests for an adventure in the open air.

After all, a wedding can also be a small festival where everyone sleeps in tents and dances in the rain with wet shoes. Who among us has not gone on a boat trip or a hike - it all depends on the way it is served. The more interesting and precise you present the idea to the guests, the fewer questions and objections you will receive in return. What I usually say to my couples is that everyone who will consider it an honor to be with you on this day will come, will not mind the circumstances or your decisions and will be happy with you," said Dream Agency wedding planner.

You must choose a place in the lee

"I would definitely recommend organizing a wedding under the open sky in a place where there is a leeward wind - in the forest, in the dunes, in the river valley. It is definitely recommended to think about the fact that the access to the place of celebration is convenient enough, otherwise the arrangement of the place will seem very burdensome and even painful. We once happened to set up a courting place near the Daudas waterfall, to which a clay road leads. It rained non-stop for the previous three days before the planned proposal. It was not possible to enter by car, but the road from the highway could be covered in seven minutes on foot. By the time we carried everything, we had covered almost two hours in one direction," Lita shares her experience.

Practical recommendations to consider when organizing an outdoor wedding:

  • It may be necessary to clean the place intended for the celebration in advance - cut the grass, pick up debris, etc. Spring cleaning with friends and relatives can also be great for this. Wedding photographer Linda Lauva and her husband also chose this option when organizing their wedding outdoors.
  • You definitely need to think about heating devices, fire pots (both for safety reasons and out of respect for nature) and lighting, so that when the sun goes down, it is not completely dark and there is somewhere to warm up.
  • Raincoats can be prepared as gifts for guests, which can be personalized with the name of each guest or the couple's initials.
  • Don't forget to arrange baskets with blankets and mosquito repellents.
  • You should not forget about bringing amenities to the venue. Of course, there is an option to build and install it yourself.
  • Don't forget to leave everything clean and tidy behind you.
