DECORATOR'S TIPS FOR CHRISTMAS TABLE DECORATIONS

DECORATOR'S TIPS FOR CHRISTMAS TABLE DECORATIONS

Christmas is a family holiday that we spend at home with our loved ones. Following the advice of iittala table design expert and Augu Māja decorator Valters Ozoliņš in decorating the table, you will delight your loved ones, conjuring a unique and special holiday feeling.

Uses natural gifts and motifs

One of the most gorgeous table decorations of the year is definitely at Christmas time. Natural gifts will help create a rich table decoration, so be sure to use everything that nature provides - branches, needles, moss, cones, reeds, poppy heads, etc.

It might seem that winter is not the most grateful time of the year for various gifts of nature, but even in winter there are many natural materials that can be used for table decoration.

Spruce and pine twigs, as well as moss, can be used to make wreaths of different sizes - the larger wreath can be used as the central object of the table design, while the small ones can be used as an addition or frame for dishes or tableware. A great decoration that anyone can make at home is a string of cones that can be arranged beautifully across the table, filling in the empty spaces with individual cones.

On the other hand, in order to give a unique texture and foundation to the overall table setting, the tablecloth can be supplemented by spreading a reed mat on top of it. In this case, dishes with a forest motif perfectly complement the luxurious, but at the same time restrained table setting.

Don't be afraid of the exotic

Although Christmas is most often associated directly with conifers, eucalyptus and pistachio branches, as well as salal and pine leaves can be used in combination with spruce, pine and thuja branches for a more interesting table decoration. Guzmania leaves will also be an excellent choice, which will beautifully complement the festive table, besides, you will not have to worry about the need for water, because the leaves are very firm and can withstand up to three days without water.

Indulge in luxury

"Christmas is the perfect time to indulge in luxurious gilt and bronze elements that will perfectly complement your table setting and give it a festive feel.

In this table decoration, gold-pink dishes are used, in which both festive delicacies and table decorations look charming," advises iittala table design expert and Augu Māja decorator Valters Ozoliņš .

Candlesticks for setting the mood

Candlelight will help conjure up a special mood, so candles and candlesticks will definitely fit into the Christmas table setting. During the holidays, you can use shiny and luxurious candlesticks for a more festive mood, however, to create a harmonious and tasteful overall image, it is preferable to choose candles in neutral shades. Glass candle holders for tea candles of different colors, shapes and textures will also come in handy.
