LOCATION OF PROJECT “WEDDING GIFT” – KOYA

Continuing the stories about the team of the "Wedding gift or colorful dreams awake" project, we present a place that lives in an old boat dock and which today is characterized by contemporary design, excellent scenery and a menu inspired by the countries of the world - restaurant KOYA.

What could better describe a place than people who have spent very special moments there? Their memories, feelings, smiles... KOYĀ calls it the wedding of the century. Beautiful, thrilling, thought out down to the last detail... A wedding for which KOYA also prepared for almost a year. The ex-bride-now-wife from sunny Zurich tells about her wedding day.

"It was a warm, sunny summer day. Our wedding day. Exactly what we wanted. We started the morning with champagne, everyone was happy, smiling. What did we expect from this day? A beautiful ceremony and a good party in the evening. All around flowers, cakes, champagne, sun, smiles, more champagne, and dancing. We wanted to see everyone we love in one place; to see them having a good time time, happy. Did we succeed? Even the rain at two in the morning was just in time!

After the ceremony and the photo session, through the express shower, we went to the place of the wedding celebration - restaurant KOYA. The restaurant had been transformed into a fairyland. Beautifully decorated, filled with flowers and candle lanterns by the river (the view and the Daugava is great!). The glass wall was completely open, connecting the interior spaces and the terrace. A stage had been built and a corner for a water pipe had been set up. We were very pleased with what we saw, and my idea of hanging flowers in the chandeliers was exactly as effective as I had imagined.

Delicious, reliable, cool - that was our experience at KOYA! The guests enjoyed everything and the cocktails were excellent. Interestingly, we heard the most compliments about the herring in a fur coat, which was served at brunch . It was a novelty and a very pleasant surprise for our foreign guests.

KOYA restaurant has high quality food and drinks and high level service - always on time, unobtrusive and helpful.

Sometimes the waiter seems to have prepared a napkin before something is knocked over, and wipes it up and apologizes as if he did it himself. We were also very surprised by the endurance of the employees - they welcomed the guests with drinks and snacks at the church around 16:00. Then in a short while they were already in front of KOYA and continued to take care of great food and drinks from dinner until the last guest at five in the morning. And already at 11:00 the next day they were at the restaurant to serve us the most delicious brunch in Riga - always with a smile and joy.

KOYA is a wonderful place for a wedding. Most of our guests came from abroad, so it was a good opportunity for them to see Riga alone. The location close to Old Riga meant that everyone could choose a suitable hotel, a very wide range of prices and amenities were available within a 10-minute radius.

As important as the wedding day was the preparation for it. We wanted to taste everything and pronounce it so that we don't have to think about it on the wedding day. We were surprised by the responsiveness and flexibility, which is a rarity in many celebration venues. Special thanks to Liene Verpakovska (KOYA banquet manager) for helping and giving in to our ideas, for example turning the wine cabinet into a flower wall for the photo corner with paper flowers. We also went to KOYA before the wedding and we continue to do so now - every time we visit Riga."

KOYA for KOYA

KOYA is a modern restaurant in the creative Andrejsala, located on the very bank of the Daugava with a wonderful view of the harbor and Pārdaugava.

The view from the restaurant and the wide outdoor terrace is equally thrilling in all seasons - with the most beautiful sunsets and sunrises, blizzard and rain landscapes, passing ships, to complete peace on the water and in the surroundings.

KOYA chef Jolanta Bula and her team offer an excellent menu inspired by the countries of the world. There is an extensive wine list and a very extensive bar menu with dozens of different rums, whiskeys and thoughtful cocktails.

KOYA is built in an old boathouse, and today the architects have created a contemporary design, maintaining lightness, lightness and spaciousness. An ideal location in the center of Riga, where you can feel like you are in the middle of nowhere. Very beautiful in the middle of nowhere!
