Somatic trauma therapy and holistic personal growth

Somatic therapy is work with the nervous system (with the body or unconscious mind). My group and individual program clients and course buyers are often people who have already tried various methods for self-healing and promoting change (mindset coaching, affirmations, talk therapy, positive thinking, manifesting, CBT, etc.), but still feel stuck. Working with the regulation of the nervous system and the release of traumatic stress in a somatic way is then the missing piece of the puzzle for many of them to achieve the desired change and inner peace.

Our autonomic nervous system is the most powerful system in us because it is responsible for all automatic (unconscious) processes. We can't change it by willpower, by trying to think positively, or by talking about our traumas. We can change this by applying practical methods that help bring a sense of security into the nervous system (somatic methods).

Because modern neuroscience confirms that methods that help regulate the nervous system have a greater effect on calming the body than purely cognitive methods. 80% of the fibers of the vagus nerve (the vagus nerve that makes up most of the parasympathetic nervous system) are afferent or sensory fibers, which means that 80% of the information goes from the body to the brain and only 20% the other way around. So methods that involve the body have five times more effective effects than methods that involve only the conscious mind.

Also, traumas are not stored in the conscious mind, but in the nervous system. So we can't heal them just by talking. It is necessary to help the nervous system to release this stress energy, suppressed emotions and feel a sense of security.

Therefore, somatic trauma therapy does not emphasize the recollection of events, and we can even do without it entirely. Somatic trauma therapy helps you work through how the effects of these past traumatic events continue in your everyday life now. This can take the form of:

  • emotional reactivity (tantrums, easy irritability, crying, increased anxiety both in everyday life and in relationships with a partner, children, at work, etc.);
  • insecure attachment (anxious, avoidant, disorganized);
  • different types of anxiety (anxious attraction in relationships, social anxiety, health anxiety, generalized anxiety, high-functioning anxiety);
  • depression, depression;
  • vegetative dystonia;
  • burnout, burnout syndrome, chronic fatigue, chronic fatigue syndrome;
  • chronic pain, migraines;
  • procrastination, perfectionism, pleasing others, difficulty saying "no";
  • ruminating, overthinking , negative thought cycles.

Somatic trauma therapy methods help restore regulation in the nervous system, optimal energy levels, the ability to more effectively regulate your triggers and reactions, reduce stress, anxiety, depression, take care of yourself in a holistic way and experience inner peace within yourself and harmony in relationships.

Somatic trauma therapy methods also include healing the "inner child"

What is the “inner child”? It is a part of our unconscious mind that stores the unresolved traumas of childhood and the stress, emotions, pain that have accumulated in the nervous system as a result of the experience. This is the reason why many develop unhealthy patterns, addictions, anxiety, depression, emotional reactivity in relationships with partners and children. Healing the "inner child" also helps heal so-called "attachment injuries" or what is called insecure attachment (anxious, avoidant, disorganized attachment).

What is the best way to improve your relationship with your partner and children? Heal your attachment or "inner child" injuries. Our attachment style is at the root of most relationship conflicts because it points to unfulfilled childhood needs that we unconsciously expect our partner to fulfill. Also, these "inner child" injuries are usually at the root of most of the triggers a parent experiences with their child.

Available in both group and individual lessons, as well as a fully self-paced online course.

Feedback

"I have lived with autonomic dystonia for almost 9 years. Experiences with several psychologists and psychotherapists were mostly unsuccessful, I gave up the search and fought on my own. Of course, it got better over the years, but something was missing, because the attacks came. I thought that I would never be able to do what I really wanted, because I would have to be afraid of another panic attack all my life. and that you have to put up with it.”

When I was in a very depressed, hopeless state and cried more than ever before, I started following Laine's Instagram more, which I had come across before. I was caught by the saying that people work with the mind but forget about the body and the nervous system, and that was about me—that was what I was missing.

I am very glad that I was not afraid and applied for the individual program. It was one of the hardest times in my life, but so necessary. Laine helped put everything on the shelves with both theory and practical techniques and taught me to listen to my body, which, unfortunately, I was very alienated from. All the answers really are within you!

I have learned to notice unpleasant sensations in my body and know what to do with them. I learned to set boundaries, make my own decisions and not ask for confirmation from others - I finally live my life the way I want it.

Laine was very understanding and supportive along the way, she gave much more than I had hoped or expected. I also encourage you not to be afraid and start this journey - you will definitely not regret it!

"I wanted to say a huge thank you for the course program - "Regulate Your Nervous System". I learned so many new things about myself, my triggers and how to work with them. I had a couple of panic attacks and no one - neither a family doctor, nor a neurologist, nor an osteopath gave me as much as you did. You not only advised, told and explained, but also gave a big package of knowledge, what to use in the future, I am grateful to have seen you and will continue to practice the acquired knowledge and methods for stabilizing the nervous system. I also recommend this program to others - very valuable and useful. P.S. I fall asleep with your voice - a kind of meditation for my body"

"Hello! I want to thank you for the Regulate the Nervous System program. In my case, it was like walking into space, learning that you can live differently, understanding why it happens and what you can do to calm your nervous system. I applied for the program because I was completely burned out and struggling with anxiety. I use medication to cope with it, but in my case, they didn't really help and made me even more anxious, because until now I was taking a pill and everything was fine. That's why I applied for the program, but I'm only at the beginning of this journey, but I'm still quite fragile in this regard I need to continue the exercises. The lectures and somatic exercises helped me to manage my emotions in a healthy way. I would definitely recommend this program to everyone who is struggling with anxiety and burnout.

"It is now completely clear to me why all the self-correction activities carried out so far were rather short-lived and apparently fruitless - because the "superstructure" was corrected with various psychological, spiritual and body therapies, but the entire memory of the experience was preserved in the body. (The results of the massages were only a couple of hours after them, by evening everything was back on track.) There was a feeling that everything that doing (and for which I pay a lot!) is like pouring a hole in a bucket

.

Now, by "repairing" or resourcing the nervous system somatically, everything falls into place. The holes in the bucket are being repaired, and not only is it possible to be more in your core and learn to stay in it, but also all the other actions you take make sense because they stay inside the bucket - you, Laine, gave the key to how to stabilize yourself and integrate all your parts into yourself!”

"This investment of time and money has definitely been one of the best investments in my life. Since I had already "known" Laina through the mini-courses, which were very valuable, I knew that the "Butterfly" would also be useful. But it surprised my expectations and greatly changed my perception of several important things.

The most important benefit is that I have become calmer, I react much better in trigger situations, and therefore I see myself as a better mother and wife. In my opinion, the price for this one is not determinable, but for the course it was very attractive.

Due to the busy period, I did not do all the tasks that were in addition to the weekly Zoom lessons. I'm glad they'll always be available, and I know they'll be very useful too. I definitely recommend Laine's courses to my girlfriends and loved ones."

“There's a book called 'Why Nobody Told Me This Before,' and Laine in 'Butterfly' gave me a lot, a lot of things I didn't know.

This is the best—yes, the best—self-improvement and self-growth program I've ever been a part of. The best program because I see and feel real results. If I compare myself to how I was two years ago, now my tolerance window has become wider. I look at other people's actions with a more empathetic and less judgmental view, and the program helped me step out of the "people pleasing" shoes, which had already become narrow in recent years.

The program helped me to become aware of my thoughts, actions and behavior patterns and to understand that with the help of these patterns, the nervous system, like a caring mother, protects me. I realized that I had wandered away from my body and couldn't hear it anymore, but through somatic practices Laine taught me to come back and listen to myself.

The program is divided into small groups where you can discuss together, empathize and be happy about progress and moments of reflection.
There is also a WhatsApp group where Laine patiently answered every question. And the most valuable thing that Laine gave us was a theoretical and practical framework and a real immersion, both during the Zoom sessions and also in the WhatsApp group.

And the good news is that after the end of the program, there is an opportunity to continue learning about yourself in the "Taurenis Alumni" program, because nothing stops. The path of self-discovery has just opened up for me.
Thank you, Laine, for sharing your knowledge.”

"The group program "Take off on wings like a butterfly" came to me at the right moment, becoming my drive and motivation for new, positive changes in myself. I am a deeply sensitive and emotional person, and here I was able to be with people like me who share their true experiences of success and difficulties they face everyday when working with themselves.

Laine's interest and desire to help each individual, going into detail and sharing her personal experience and knowledge, is amazing and healing. Here I understood a lot about my nervous system and why and how it happens to me, so that I could accept it and get back in touch with my body.

In the group program, I learned a lot of practical tools to use on a daily basis to get rid of stress in the nervous system. I am truly grateful for that!”
