Weekly dating in marriage does not seem like a difficult goal to achieve, however, exhausted by daily cares and many responsibilities, couples often forget to dedicate a decent amount of time only to themselves and their togetherness, as a result of which after a long time there may be alienation and the feeling that you no longer know each other. That is why dates are not only a must have before the wedding, but already for the wife and husband!
Time doesn't come naturally for anything in this life - it should be reserved for things that are really important, so find time every week and schedule one evening ahead of time that will be reserved for just the two of you. Long Story Short Wedding videographer Marta Login admits that every week she and her husband try to find time to spend just the two of them, without their two wonderful daughters. "When we didn't have children yet and when there was only one child, it was much easier to schedule time once a week for just ourselves. Time together is very important - to be away from the children and just to talk. Until recently we were in a cafe and talked for two hours. I got in the car and said to my husband: thank you that we could talk. When you are a mom and a dad, you should also be a wife and a husband. You should also teach this to your children - take care of your relationship so that they would see how cool it is that dad can take mom on a date. I know that my husband has a reminder on his phone every Monday - to figure out where to take his wife on a date," Marta shares her experience.
Pastor Krists Kalniņš is also convinced that weekly dates help restore the intimacy of love in relationships. "When my wife Linda and I started conducting marriage courses, we had already been married for 15 years, and it was a not-so-pleasant revelation for us too, that if we take away the conversation topics related to children, work, family, there is nothing left to talk about. Now, of course, we appreciate how very special this time is for dating."
Undoubtedly, dates can be many and different - traditional visits to the cinema or dinner outside the house. However, weekly dates can also be a great way to challenge yourself and learn something new together, or vice versa - to remember what you've already experienced. It should be understood that a date does not immediately mean that it will require a large financial investment. You can also be together without leaving several tens of euros in a restaurant. There are various options - you can remember your childhood and climb trees, go feed the ducks by the canal, watch planes take off and land, or go on a two-day hike - just with a backpack and a tent to spend the night. Go fishing, which will allow you not only to enjoy nature, but also to talk a lot with each other. Animal lovers can take shelter dogs for a walk, and winter lovers can fall into it and make snow angels when the first snow falls. But tourists can feel the spirit of travelers in their own city, going on a tour of Old Riga and getting to know the city through the eyes of a tourist. None of these options will require a lot of money either, but will reward you with a wonderful feeling of being together.
A date does not automatically mean going out. You can spend time together even at home. Children can be entrusted to a nanny or grandparents and spend a leisurely evening for the two of them. Baking your favorite pizza, testing each other's erudition in board games or reading books together. It is hard to imagine that in ancient times this was one of the most common ways of spending time - when people read their favorite books to each other. Of course, you can always watch one of the classic romantic movies together, like Casablanca , but why not dust off your favorite book and read it?
