"Fire and Night" is one of Rainis's best-known plays, the most notable example of symbolism in Latvian literature, which is based on Andrej Pumpura's epic Lāčplēsis.

The modern version of the play "Fire and Night" can be seen at the Latvian National Theater under the direction of Viesturs Kairiš. In the role of Spidol - Guna Zariņa, actress of the New Riga Theater, Maija Doveika - Laimdot, Uldis Anže - Lāčplēsis, Gundars Grasberg - Kangar.
