HOW TO CHOOSE A DJ FOR YOUR WEDDING?

Lai kāzu viesi atrastos uz deju grīdas visas nakts garumā, nepietiek tikai ar labu nodomu, vajadzīga gan īstā atmosfēra, gan atraktīvi viesi, gan profesionāļi, kas īstajā brīdī atradīs īsto dziesmu, pie kuras visi vēlēsies izkustināt kājas. That's why when planning a wedding, you must find a DJ, a live band, or even both.

Good DJ – the safest and most cost-effective solution

Kaspars Erminass or DJ Erminass , answering the question why a DJ would be needed at a wedding, states that anyone can take care of music at a wedding, but it is best if it is done by an expert in their field - a DJ or a music group. "Of course, there are cases when the young couple prepares a music list for their wedding in advance or one of the guests takes on the duties of a DJ, and this is mostly done to save costs.

The evening part of the wedding celebration can last up to 12 hours, and in order to have music that fits the moment throughout this time, the safest and most cost-effective solution is to hire a good wedding DJ.

He will "split" the evening into several parts and play appropriate background or party music in each of them," explains Kaspars Erminas.

The best combination – DJ and live band

On the other hand, if a couple wants a musically brighter wedding, then Kaspars recommends choosing a good live music band. "I have often observed at weddings that the musicians have a more colorful and energizing musical energy than the 'synthetic' music played from records. Usually most of the guests dance when the band plays because the musicians' performances are limited in time - usually three or four times .

It's true, when choosing a music group, you have to take into account that it needs a much larger space, namely a stage or a podium. But if a live music band is playing at the wedding, then I definitely recommend choosing a DJ as well, because he will take care of the music before the musicians perform, between times, when the band rests, and will continue to entertain the most resistant wedding guests when the band has finished playing and left," advises Kaspars.

Also, Jānis Spinga or DJ Spinga recommends young couples to hire both a professional DJ and a quality live music band for their wedding.

"At any wedding, there are almost always guests who like to dance directly to the music in a live performance, but among the guests there are usually companies that want a different repertoire, which in turn can be taken care of by the DJ, who often has a very wide repertoire," explains Jānis.

When choosing a DJ and music group, Jānis encourages young couples not to be afraid to choose artists they like. Even if the band doesn't play dance music, don't shy away from fulfilling your own desires. "Young couples want their wedding to be fun, filled with joy, so that the guests rejoice with and for them.

A DJ and great music are basically one of the most important prerequisites for this kind of wedding, therefore, in my opinion, a DJ is an integral part of a wedding," Jānis is confident.

How to choose the right DJ?

Jānis Spinga admits that it is not an easy decision for a young couple to choose the right DJ for their wedding.

"There is no shortage of DJs in Latvia, but this choice and selection should be approached carefully, because there are DJs who specialize in only one niche and field of music.

If the DJ plays only house music, then the couple should ask whether this repertoire will "cover" the wedding throughout the evening and night. The surest way to find the right DJ for your wedding is to choose someone you've heard before. Of course, you should always choose a professional DJ with experience. Such a person will always be able to see different companies at a wedding and find the most suitable wishes for everyone," Jānis is confident.

To find a good DJ, you should also find out:

  • What style genre of music does the DJ play? Can he match the young couple's wishes?
  • Will the DJ come to the party with his sound and light equipment?
  • How long will the DJ play? What if the celebration drags on?
  • What is the previous professional experience of the particular DJ?

In wedding celebrations, one should not forget about the technical support of sound and lights.

"You need a technical person or a company that takes care of it and provides it, especially if both a DJ and a band play at the wedding. Usually, the technical support team includes a light and sound fitter, a tuner, a lighting engineer and even a VJ in charge of projectors, screens," says Kaspars Erminas.
