Inspiration – Greece on a plate

Food has always been an integral part of every nation's culture. A chef who goes on an exciting journey to discover new cuisines, at the same time learns about the history of these nations. Every recipe, every dish is like a living story that through the twists and turns of time reaches us today.

Greece has its own special thread, which has deeply fascinated us - the POTAMI restaurant. Its gastronomic culture is like a warm breath of summer – enriched by the sun and soaked in the freshness of the sea – that allows you to create flavors that inspire and surprise. This experience has been a great discovery for ourselves and, we believe, for our guests as well.

Flavors begin with products. Touching them, feeling their aroma and texture, we already sense the essence of the food. In Greek cuisine, each product tells a story about the place, the sun, the land and the people. It is these basic elements – olive oil, olives, feta cheese, figs, oregano, thyme, sage, tomatoes, green pepper, fragile phyllo dough – that make up the miracle garden from which we are inspired.

We find inspiration both in old writings and experiences, and in creative restlessness that invites us to try new food combinations. Our goal is to offer you not only a meal, but also a feeling as if sunny Greece is coming to Riga.

While studying recipes, flipping through books and looking for an answer to the question "What is Greece?", it became clear - we know so little, but at the same time Greece is so deeply rooted in our own everyday life. This story of flavors, traditions and inspiration continues in our restaurant - POTAMI - where Greek authenticity meets new perspectives.

Interior, atmosphere and rooms

Our interior was created by the renowned designer Oskars Skara, inspired by the natural beauty and rough aesthetics of the Aegean Sea. He deliberately avoided clichés. A mosaic floor with pieces of marble and granite evokes the charm of ancient village squares. The rock-textured walls inspire the calm and depth of the Greek coast.

An inverted straw meadow grows on the ceiling – a surreal, surprising and at the same time cozy accent. As the lights secretly change from bright to soft, the effect is created that moths are quietly hovering between the straws. In the evenings, this moment becomes especially magical, when the entire restaurant sinks into an intimate, dreamy atmosphere.

Upholstered furniture in rich Greek blue tones, cozy dining areas and the special Chef's Table near the kitchen create a space for both private and celebratory meals. The indoor capacity of the restaurant is up to 70 guests , while the wide terrace with a view of the Daugava and Riga panorama can accommodate up to 70 guests , seamlessly combining nature with the rhythm of the city.

For more intimate celebrations, family events or business dinners, we offer a separate, smaller room for up to 12 persons , which provides a private, peaceful and especially personal atmosphere.

Warm, 2700K spectrum lighting gives coziness and a sense of intimacy throughout the restaurant, while linen lamps and illuminated mirrors bring to life the mythological symbols – sun and moon, day and night – harmoniously intertwined.

For the convenience of our guests, a parking lot is available near the restaurant, which POTAMI visitors can use free of charge for up to 3 hours .
