It may seem to many that the actual wedding season has not yet started, but it is definitely not. For those who intend to celebrate their big day in the height of summer or even earlier, it is the last moment to focus on such an important issue as choosing and ordering a wedding cake.

Lage gastronomy and Lage Ko chief technologist Nadezhda Lukyanchuk told about the fashion trends of this year's wedding cakes.

Undoubtedly, the wedding cake is one of the central components of the celebration, which receives a lot of attention and, let's be honest, the two first and main questions asked about any wedding - what was the bride's dress and what was the cake? So we can safely say that choosing a wedding cake should be given due attention.

Everything has its time

If we talk about the terms in which the cake should be ordered, they depend on the wishes of the young couple themselves. If there are no special requirements for the wedding cake and are completely satisfied, for example, our standard offer - no desire for any special filling shape or number of layers -

completely enough if the cake is ordered two weeks before the celebration.

On the other hand, if the couple has decided that they want a multi-tiered cake for their wedding, possibly even with different fillings on each tier, which is possible to realize, and some special design, then it is high time to go for a consultation with a confectioner and discuss all the details so that the wedding cake gives only positive emotions on the big day. If the cake has to be prepared by special order, it should be expected that it should be ordered 2-3 months before the wedding.
"Of course, there are couples who come and order a cake even half a year before the wedding, however, we would not advise you to rush so much, Experience shows and there are often cases when the young couple's thoughts about what kind of cake they would like for the wedding change a couple of months before the big event itself, which means that the order has to be changed. Therefore, it is better to think about this issue for a longer time and go to order a cake about two months before the wedding," advises N. Lukyanchuk.

English classic or country romance

This year, we can talk about two main trends or trends in choosing wedding tors.

On the one hand, English classics are coming into fashion for wedding cakes, and on the other - rural themes.

If we talk about English classics, then it manifests itself in the most direct way in the colors, shape and design of the cake. As N. Lukyanchuk said, unlike last year, when the fashion was floral, as well as relatively saturated shades - fuchsia, pink and purple, green, blue, menthol shade - this year classic values ​​will be decisive, adding elements such as lace, bows, pearls, which will be one of the most important elements this year, and delicate strings of flowers. The basic color of the cake is coordinated with the color of the bride's dress (or, for example, if the wedding has a specific color theme, then it is also reflected in the cake), so it is mostly light - white or champagne color.

If we talk about rural themes in cakes, then it is a new trend that has quite successfully entered our market. "I assume that this is related to the fact that recently, after the official marriage ceremony that takes place in the city, people choose to go to the countryside, where they can spend even several days celebrating," says N. Lukyanchuk.

Country theme in cakes is a very specific thing, because not only the cake itself is made in a country style, but the country atmosphere also appears in the design. Cakes are ordered with figurines or images of farm animals.

However, speaking about the choice of wedding cakes in general, it must be said that people are not ready to experiment with their weddings and stick to light colors in the design of the cake. Although recently we have noticed that it is younger couples who choose unprecedented and quite alternative solutions that refresh stereotypical weddings with calm tones and traditions, so this is also reflected in wedding cakes.

Berries in summer, lace in winter

When it comes to the design and filling of torši, we cannot forget about seasonality.

Of course, light and airy cakes are more popular in the summer, which are often supplemented with berries in various combinations.

On the other hand, during the winter/autumn season, heavier cakes, such as chocolates, are ordered much more often. The design mostly uses flowers - live or edible - lace and pearls.

N. Lukyanchuk, however, emphasizes that flowers and laces are quite a classic element and are in demand all year round.

Multi-tiered cakes – wedding classics

The number of tiers of the cake largely depends on where the wedding is celebrated. "Since we are ordered cakes that have to be delivered to celebrations both in Riga and to the farthest edge of Latvia, we have noticed that at weddings that take place in the city or in guest houses, multi-tiered cakes are ordered. In country houses and places outside the big cities - on one tier. Depending on the number of guests, the size and weight of the cake is adjusted accordingly," explains N. Lukyančuka.

In this case, the number of guests is of great importance. If there are not many guests, there is no need for large multi-tiered cakes either, because they cannot be eaten anyway. However, we cannot forget that weddings are still associated with a beautiful multi-tiered cake, which almost every bride wants at her wedding, regardless of the number of guests. In such cases, so that you don't have to make a bigger cake than necessary, and the new couple doesn't have to pay unnecessarily by ordering a bigger cake than they should, we have created a solution that satisfies everyone. We are making a multi-tiered cake, but the edible cake is only on the top tiers. The lower tiers are not edible, but decorated like the upper tiers and no different from the edible part of the cake.

In this way, the situation can be solved very easily, and most importantly, the bride is satisfied because she got a beautiful multi-tiered cake, but funds have been saved and there will be no cake left over after the celebration.
