Diamonds are the best choice for engagement and wedding rings

Diamonds are the best choice for engagement and wedding rings

Diamonds are traditionally considered the best choice in engagement and wedding rings. And for good reason - diamond or rough brilliant is the hardest mineral found in nature (rated 10 out of 10 on the Mohs scale of hardness), and its elegant appearance and brilliance will always be in fashion. However, we always get anxious questions and doubts from our customers - can I afford it and is there really no better alternative?

We disprove five frequently heard myths about diamonds!

The value of a diamond is determined by its size

Although large diamonds (measured in carats or cts) will usually be more expensive than fine, small gems, bigger does not always mean better.

In order to objectively assess the value of a diamond, 4 aspects must be taken into account - size, cut, color and clarity. It is often the case that the diamond is large, but poorly polished (cut), fails to refract light and has many inclusions, or it is "dirty", or - on the contrary - the diamond is not very large, but is exceptionally clear and beautifully processed - then its value will be considerable.

Zirconia is a good alternative to diamonds

Cubic zirconia is a material created artificially in the laboratory, which at first glance is similar to diamonds, however, even if initially they shine beautifully, two important aspects should be taken into account - firstly, they lose their luster very quickly and remain dull (and this shine cannot be restored, unlike a diamond, which can be polished), secondly, they will definitely never be as durable as a diamond - zirconium can shatter as a result of an impact. If you want the jewelry to last at least your lifetime and maintain its prestigious appearance, it is worth investing not only in high-quality precious metal, but also in precious stones!

Diamonds are not for everyday life

We have already established that the diamond is the most durable of the precious stones. Why be afraid to wear diamonds in everyday jewelry? If the gemstones are properly set using "smart gemstone mounts" and the ring mass is large enough, you don't have to worry about the stone falling out or getting caught in your hair or clothing.

Therefore, it is quite the opposite - diamonds are the best choice if you wear jewelry everyday! If you choose jewelry with other precious stones that are more prone to scratching, then we consider such jewelry to be only for special occasions and not suitable for intensive everyday wear.

Only natural diamonds are real

Nowadays, we hear more and more often about "lab grown diamonds". Yes, that's right - in the laboratory it is possible to grow diamonds whose chemical composition will be identical to those found in nature. such gems will be just as durable and beautiful (provided they are properly processed, of course), but their best feature is their price - since they are crafted by human hands, they are usually more affordable. Whether to choose diamonds found in nature or grown in a laboratory is your choice, however, it is a mistake to say that one or the other will be better.

Diamonds are overrated

Diamonds are a woman's best friend and we couldn't agree more! Yes, the popularity of diamonds was created with the help of advertising - the American dream of an engagement ring worth at least five months' salary is still relevant today, however, diamonds are not only shiny stones that are sung about and filmed, diamonds are the most durable of precious stones, perfect for everyday wear, with wide possibilities for use in jewelry, and also a great investment.

Whether to choose jewelry with precious stones - diamonds or other stones - or without, it is a matter of your taste, however, our conviction remains unchanged - diamonds are the best choice!
