There are many different wedding styles in the world. Elegant, romantic, vintage, boho and many more. Although we have most often seen the bride in a dress, smart casual or elegantly comfortable wedding style will also suit a trouser suit. Not only in the world, but also in Latvia, there are brides who choose such a bold solution and admit that it does not make them feel less feminine, on the contrary!

I've been imagining myself in a white pantsuit since the proposal

Smart casual style clothing will usually suit when going to various informal events. When you receive a wedding invitation, where you are asked to follow this style of dressing, you should remember to leave the fancy evening dresses in the closet and choose a light fabric dress and jacket instead.

Smart casual is essentially a traditional but at the same time relatively informal style. Jana Johanna Birmane, who became the wife of fashion designer Bruno Birmani in May, chose this bold solution for her wedding.

Jana admits that her relationship with clothes is intuitive. "I'm always clearly aware of what kind of clothes I like, so those things also come to me physically. It was also with a white pantsuit, in which I imagined myself since the proposal. Of course, I also evaluated dresses that could potentially suit me, but I didn't change my mind due to functionality and inner feelings.

One of the most important factors in favor of choosing such an outfit was the fact that I spent a couple of hours in it alone, because we flew to Paris immediately after the wedding ceremony. It was important for me to wear the dress after the wedding as well, not to hang it in the closet and keep it as a relic," says Jana.

Femininity lies in essence, not in dresses

Jana also admits that, in her opinion, femininity does not lie in a woman's dresses, but in her essence. That is why she has never felt so feminine in her life as she did on her wedding day.

It also turned out quite unexpectedly that both Jana and her husband wore suits of a similar style on the wedding day. "It was actually not planned and it's a cute curiosity - a couple of days before the wedding, Bruno came home with his new suit. When he put it on, I realized that it was very similar to mine in terms of shape and style, only in a dark color. So quite unintentionally and unplanned, we were practically in the same suits at the wedding, I - white with fine, dark stripes, he - dark with white stripes," recalls Jana.

Stay true to your style even on your wedding day

Since the wedding of Jana and Bruno was secret, and only witnesses and a photographer took part in it, it was difficult to judge the reaction of people around Jana's choice of clothing.

"We are generally not supporters of traditional weddings, so our wedding concept could be described as a "secret wedding".

Of course, to avoid misunderstandings, we warned some people beforehand, but we wanted to dedicate this day only to each other. It was very important to do without pomposity and be honest with each other and your decision. The wedding event itself only took a couple of hours, it started with a celebratory breakfast before the ceremony, a small photo session after and then we went to the airport to get away from everyone to Paris.  I think that my family is very used to my style, which I remained faithful to on my wedding day as well. Actually, there were no radical surprises in my choice," says Jana.

Non-standard clothing - non-standard reaction

For other brides who also want to be bolder in their choice of clothing, Jana advises you to first answer the question for whom the wedding is being held. If the bride is finally ready to choose a non-standard outfit, then you should expect that you may also receive a non-standard reaction. "I think it is important to remember that we choose a wedding dress for ourselves, not for our fiance, cousins, mothers and friends.

If you feel that you want to deviate from the traditional and wear something unusual, then you should follow your heart. After all, after many, many years, when flipping through the wedding album, the pictures will still look curious and contemporary," Jana is convinced.
