How to avoid burnout chasing your dreams?

How to avoid burnout chasing your dreams?

A lot of people burn out on the way to their dreams . Have you ever experienced it? When you don't want to do anything, achieve anything, try anything, feel anything, think anything... When you no longer feel joy for everyday little things, for achievements, even for the recognition you receive.

This happens most often because:

  • you want everything now and at once;
  • you try to do a lot of things at the same time;
  • you live by the principle "I can do everything myself";
  • you work non-stop to achieve your goal for several months, maybe even years, not enjoying the process itself and not getting satisfaction from small achievements.

Often we - people - set high expectations for a process. But we are unable to objectively assess our strengths. And then this internal conflict arises.

Burnout doesn't start with the words: "I think I feel bad." It begins with the belief, "I am almighty! I can do all things!" For some people, this condition lasts for years. You work for three, you are so cool and you "seem to grow wings". You do a lot at the same time and you even manage to achieve high results.

And then at one point work (or a specific goal) starts to "devour" you. You work 16 hours a day, sleep little, eat between meetings, work (or some special goal) takes all your attention. You don't want to communicate with people anymore, you don't want to go to the gym, read books. And he says to himself: "Everything is fine, I'll just finish this project and everything will be fine again!"

But it doesn't end with the completion of the project...

And then at one point you feel so drained that despair sets in.

What to do? How to deal with it? How not to lead your life to burnout?

  • It is definitely not necessary to continue as before.
  • Must not suffer.
  • Do not withdraw completely into yourself, close yourself off from those around you.
  • You cannot simply change the goal in the same field / project / work / team, etc.
  • You should not think that everything will pass by itself.

All this will not help. Will help, but only in the short term. You have to learn to focus on different spheres of life! If I always set goals only for money, wealth, professional and career growth, I neglect all other areas of life. But in life there are still relationships and family, health, free time, society around me, personal growth and spiritual growth.

In order not to burn out while chasing your dream, our task is to learn to set goals for happiness, health, wealth, and spirituality! And work in parallel with these goals.

In this way, harmonizing all four areas so important in life. And it's actually not that complicated. You just need to make a decision: "From now on, I will start consciously planning time for all four spheres of life!"

And let's start doing it right now.

Open a notebook or notes on your phone, computer and write:

1. What is my goal for happiness in 2023?

Is it a new relationship or bringing the existing relationship to a new level, maybe it is new family traditions or new habits to increase your happiness, maybe participation in a happiness marathon or course? Be sure to start by describing what happiness will really mean to you in 2023?

2. What is my goal for health in 2023?

Maybe you will introduce 7-8 hours of sleep and go to bed until 22, will you start every morning with a green cocktail, will you change the habit of eating in fast food restaurants to cooking at home, maybe start exercising regularly? What could prove at the end of the year that you have improved your health ?

3. What is my goal for wealth in 2023?

How much money do you want to earn, invest, save some capital, maybe start your own business or turn your hobby into economic activity, maybe agree on a promotion at work or attend some financial thinking courses?

4. What is my goal for spirituality in 2023?

What will you do for your spiritual growth? Maybe every day you will meditate for at least 15 minutes, you will read 5 books on mindfulness in a year, you will start writing a gratitude diary or you will introduce prayer as a mandatory part of your daily routine? Each of us must learn to combine the material and spiritual worlds on a daily basis.

Spend this all-important time writing down your goals.

This will be a very big step towards balance! And then all you have to do is plan each goal in your planner. Will you do it in the next 24 hours?

Thank you for adding more value to your life! Because you are definitely worth it!
