INTERNATIONAL WEDDING: A LATVIAN AND AN AMERICAN SHOULD MEET IN LATVIA

INTERNATIONAL WEDDING: A LATVIAN AND AN AMERICAN SHOULD MEET IN LATVIA

Riga native Agnese or Agie moved to live on the other side of the ocean - Los Angeles 17 years ago. In America, she met her own future husband Dave. He was also the one who expressed the idea that the wedding of the two could take place in Latvia, and also the bride for that joined because she is always happy to come to Latvia to visit. That's what they said to each other this summer must be mentioned in Latvia in Nītaures mill , with the presence of several dozens of guests from the USA.

Latvian traditions fascinate guests from the USA

The bride states that the wedding was planned for about a year. Since the wedding was planned from a distance, they were helped recommendations of friends and relatives, various Internet groups and information contained in the wedding media LĪGAVĀM .

"I personally haven't been to many Latvian weddings, but I really liked the ones I've been to. That's why we wanted something different from what we usually see in America, including some Latvian traditions," he says the bride. Latvian traditions seemed interesting not only to them, but also to 25 guests who had come from USA.

"Because of the distance, many of the people we invited didn't make it to Latvia, but in my opinion, 25 people is a lot, and it was very nice surprise that those who could came. All the guests from America were pleasantly surprised by how beautiful Latvia is beautiful. The foreign guests were especially excited about the dancing part, because you can't see anything like that in the US. The leader of the evening explained the importance of tradition and this was very important to the guests. There is no michosana in America - we had both a campfire and singing, candles and a few other Latvian traditions. My husband also liked it very much," says the bride.

Pay attention to the seating plan

The young couple also thought of seating the wedding guests in a way that would make everyone happy and comfortable. they didn't want so that the Latvian guests sit on one side, and the American guests on the other side.

"We paid attention to the seating plan - we not only put people who know each other at the same table, but also mixed also Americans and Latvians who speak English. In our opinion, it is very important that the guests feel comfortable at the wedding. For us it was important that no guest felt that they did not understand what was going on around them, because we ourselves have been in situations, when people speak other languages and we feel very uncomfortable," said the young couple.

"At weddings in America, most often there is no host of the evening, who would lead the entire evening as actively as it is accepted in Latvia - this is also it was different because the Americans didn't create that different activities were arranged."

I regret that the wedding was not filmed

Dave especially liked the "Bitter!" found in our latitudes. tradition, he only learned this word at the wedding itself, and is considered one of the most special moments of the wedding day. "At our wedding, everything really went as planned. The only one the thing we regretted a little is that we didn't have a video camera.

The wedding day passes so quickly that in the end it is impossible to remember everything. It would have been great to have a wedding day also captured in video format. Before the wedding, I read that it is one of the things that people most often regret after theirs for the wedding, and I have to agree that it is," admits the bride.

Recommendation - immediately after the wedding you should go on a honeymoon!

The young couple advises other couples to start planning their wedding early. As the wedding day approaches, there are still many details that must be done and which causes some stress, so it is better to do everything in time. "We would still advise couples not to get carried away with various small gifts for the guests. Although such small details, of course, look beautiful, but mostly these gifts remain on the tables. In our opinion, this money is better spent on other wedding needs.

Also, we definitely recommend all couples to go on a honeymoon right after the wedding. We didn't know how important it was, until we did it ourselves. After planning and celebrating a wedding for so long, it is very important to be alone and enjoy it time," advises the young couple.
