OPPORTUNITY TO "LEARN" BEFORE WEDDING - PRE-MARRIAGE COURSES

OPPORTUNITY TO

Marriage is not just about weddings, romance, happiness and love. Marriage is work. Even more – daily work.

Couples who have been married for 30, 40, and even 50 years say that there is no single key to success, but there are things they would have liked to know before the wedding in order to promote the collapse of over-romanticized ideas. Unfortunately, Latvia has one of the highest divorce rates in the world, and one of the reasons for this could be that couples do not know what they are actually "signing" for when they sign a marriage certificate. And he subscribes not only to all the good, but also to the unpleasant, unflattering and annoying.

Various pre-marriage courses, betrothal seminars, which mostly take place in Latvia in the spring, before the most active wedding season, can help.

To learn the biggest secret of relationships - conversation

Although it has long been a church tradition - couples who have decided to get married in the church undergo pre-marital training, however, increasingly, churches throughout Latvia offer not only mandatory initiation training courses, but also various pre-marital seminars and training, which can be attended by anyone interested, regardless of whether the couple has decided to get married in the church.

Those couples who have been married for a long time say that the greatest art in life is communication.

And no matter how paradoxical it is, it also turns out to be the most difficult thing. This is exactly what various pre-marriage courses teach and call for - to talk, talk, talk and not only about the everyday, but also about the deeply personal, intimate - in a word, the important.

Pre-marriage courses starting in spring:

Several times a year Riga Lutheran congregation in Torņkaln organizes a four-class seminar "What is happening in our relationship?" for couples who want to get married or who have faced relationship challenges and trials. The classes are designed for those who want to gain a deeper understanding of the dynamics of their relationships.

The seminar tells:

  • what can be expected in married life;
  • why there are periods of ups and downs in relationships;
  • why disputes begin;
  • why there are moments in relationships when it is difficult to live with each other;
  • as well as how to solve these problems.

The seminar is led by pastor Kaspars Simanovičs. The next seminar will start in March this year. More information can be found here: PRE-MARRIAGE SEMINAR

The pre-marriage course of the Old St. Gertrude Lutheran Church located in the center of Riga will start in April, offering couples five consecutive Wednesday evenings to lay the foundations for a strong marriage. The marriage preparation course is intended for couples who are preparing for marriage or are just thinking about such a step.

The organizers of the course indicate that during five weeks, couples answer several fundamentally important questions:

  • how to recognize and use your differences;
  • how to resolve conflicts;
  • how to spend quality time together;
  • how to help the other to feel loved;
  • how to build good sexual relations;
  • how to talk about goals, values and dreams together?

The course is run by three married couples - Krists and Linda Kalniņi, Rinald and Ieva Granti, Oskars and Santa Smoļaki. More information can be found here:  PRE-MARRIAGE COURSE
