Ideas for what to do after the wedding ceremony

Ideas for what to do after the wedding ceremony

One of the challenges when planning a wedding day scenario is to choose wedding activities that are diverse enough, but also harmonious with each other.

Wedding ceremony and festive dinner - they are essential and constant components of almost every wedding. But how to fill the time after the ceremony and before the dinner can be approached creatively. It is important to plan these activities with a specific purpose, such as telling a story about the couple or bringing the guests together. Thus, the entertainment and activities that take place during this time can perfectly complement the theme, style of the wedding and put the guests in the right mood for the evening celebrations.

Classic - cocktail hour, background music and an intelligently entertaining host

Couples often choose to have a cocktail hour with drinks and light snacks after the ceremony. During it, guests can leisurely greet the couple and dwell on the moving emotions of the wedding ceremony. These basic elements - drinks and music - can be nurtured, used to attract the attention of guests and turned into tasteful entertainment. For example, the cocktail hour can be complemented by performances by bartenders, a cocktail master class or a tasting. Drinks can be different, for example, a barista can serve coffee.

If the wedding takes place in autumn, guests can be welcomed with a warm drink after the ceremony. While guests enjoy refreshments, musicians can surprise you with a special performance. It can also be supplemented by performances by dancers or other artists. But the wedding director can prepare unobtrusive activities that encourage guests to get into the atmosphere of the evening and get to know each other better.

Wedding photo session and a moment for two

The wedding ceremony is a very special moment, therefore, both before it, in the first look format, and after it, the couple should plan a moment together to be completely with each other and embrace this event. Usually, a photo session for the couple is planned after the ceremony, but even before the photo shoot, you can plan an extra moment for the two of you without anyone else present. While the couple is taking photos, guests can also be provided with a photographer or videographer, combined with an activity such as creating photo or video greetings for the couple.

After a moment together and a small photo session, the couple should no longer get carried away with activities together, so as not to leave the guests, unless it is a really important and meaningful activity that makes the couple stay a little longer. If, however, you want to spend the wedding day in solitude, then the celebration can be held on another day, so as not to disturb the day for either the couple or the guests.

Wedding cake and first dance right after the ceremony

Cake immediately after the wedding ceremony - it is gradually becoming a modern wedding standard. Such a scenario has many advantages - it symbolizes the first feast of the new family; in daylight, the cake is much more fully appreciated; as well as the cake cutting will be a great addition to the cocktail hour. The presentation of the cake can be supplemented with an activity for the couple - the couple can decorate the cake themselves.

The couple's first dance can also take place immediately after the ceremony, especially if it is staged. This way, the couple will get rid of the anxiety of the upcoming dance in front of everyone and the guests will give it their undivided attention. Even if no big celebration is planned and only the afternoon of the wedding is held, you do not have to give up the dance - it can also be held after the ceremony. Get your guests to dance with you and have a little impromptu wedding party during the day.

Do not underestimate the moment of rest

Couples often overexert themselves and plan too many activities in the worry that some moment of the day will not be filled and the guests will remain idle. In almost 100% of cases, these doubts are not justified, because most of the time the wedding day goes by very quickly and there is no time for all the investigated activities. In fact, guests will appreciate the opportunity to relax a little after the emotional wedding ceremony, freshen up, take some photos. Especially if you have traveled a long way to the wedding. If the wedding takes place in a beautiful, scenic location, guests can be encouraged to get to know it and take a short walk around the area.

Excursions and small excursions

When planning entertainment for wedding guests, you have to take into account that they will be in festive clothes and think about their comfort. If the wedding concept is free, relaxed and active, then guests should be informed about this in time, indicating in the invitation what kind of clothing would be appropriate. It would be inappropriate for ladies in hairstyles and high heels to run the relay. An activity that is quite exciting, as well as comfortable, is various trips - with an excursion car, boat or some other means of transport. If the wedding takes place in a scenic town, a small tour of the old town can be arranged. When planning outings on the wedding day, it is very important to realistically plan the time so that the day does not drag on and moves forward smoothly.

Wedding activities with added value - master classes

If the couple has planned something that takes more time after the ceremony, you can schedule a master class for the guests - something that is easy to do and doesn't have to get dirty. Of course, the master class can take place for a couple with guests. It can be the creation of a wedding souvenir. It can also be something symbolic that sanctifies the couple's future life together.

Stick to core values and don't complicate

At weddings, too, it is good to remember that everything excellent in its essence is simple. Food and being together can also become cornerstones of a wedding celebration. Food can be turned into an experience by having a beautifully designed wedding picnic or by renting a variety of food trucks that prepare delicious snacks and meals on site. The wedding meal does not necessarily have to be spent sitting at the table and enjoying the dishes brought by the waiter; they can also be different food stations where guests can choose the one they like the most.

Speaking of being together - guests can be brought together and encouraged to talk by a skilled host of the evening, who will not fill the airwaves with his performances, but will elegantly invite guests and mutual interaction and conversation.

Any other additional activities can be planned according to the location and concept of the wedding celebration. If the wedding takes place in the evening, then the first dances and, for example, karaoke can begin. On the other hand, if the wedding takes place in nature, in a free style, then it can be more active activities.

Unusual surprises for wedding guests

To really surprise the guests, you can arrange unusual performances and activities. These can be caricature artists who sketch guests, a fire show that replaces the classic meddling, and even magicians. It should be taken into account here - the fewer and more thoughtful elements of the show, the better. Weddings don't have to be turned into an amusement park or circus show. For example, instead of holding a flashy show, a magician who elegantly and unobtrusively shows a few tricks while the guests are enjoying cocktails can add a unique and tasteful accent to the evening.

Meaningful wedding activities and traditions

In order for the scenario of the wedding day to be harmonious, meaningful and personal, it is necessary to think very carefully so that the activities that are carried out resonate with the couple. Inspiration can be found in hobbies, future dreams and the like. If ideas found on the Internet are repeated without any deeper justification, there will be no spark that will excite and make both the couple and the guests get involved wholeheartedly.

When it comes to games and tasks, you need to think carefully about what is important, what matches the style of the wedding, which will be really interesting. Heartfelt activities are, for example, making a guest book, a memory album.

Wedding traditions should not be excluded from the wedding day plan. While bridge-crossing and plate-smashing are slowly becoming a thing of the past, you can certainly incorporate traditions that make sense to you. It can be receiving blessings from parents. Maybe there are some special traditions or rituals in the family.

At a wedding, nothing is mandatory and nothing is forbidden. Latvian wedding traditions can also be replaced by other spiritual and ethereal activities, such as a cacao ceremony, gong, sounding bowl or hanga sound meditation, making a flower mandala together, or any other activity that seems beautiful and meaningful.

Wedding activities: practical nuances

In order to be able to simply flow and enjoy on the wedding day, it is necessary to prepare and solve all practical issues in advance. The most important thing is to be realistic about how long everything will take. It has already been mentioned that everything usually takes more time than planned at a wedding, so you should allow time for everything.

You also don't need to plan long journeys. The more people, the more time they will take - not only time spent on the road, but getting into cars, finding parking spaces. If you are planning small trips, it is essential to check the availability of all places, working hours, to find out if there are road repairs, city holidays and other obstacles shortly before the wedding. In order to save time on the wedding day, it is advisable to give guests detailed instructions about the day's plan, so that they can research the routes in advance and are ready to indulge in the adventures you have arranged.

Finally, relax and let your guests relax - celebrate slowly, sensibly and with pleasure!
