Riga can be proud of the beautiful panorama that opens over its roofs, as well as green parks and charming courtyards. Summer in the city also has its own romance and what better way to experience it than lazily sipping a chilled drink on one of Riga's nicest terraces. Therefore, we selected places with the most special view and the most enjoyable atmosphere, where to go on a date or even organize a wedding.

The highest points of the Riga panorama

Looking at the city from a bird's eye view is always exciting, so let's start with Riga's tallest buildings, which are available for viewing. One of the tallest buildings in Riga is located in Old Riga, it is the Church of St. Peter of Riga, whose spire reaches a height of 123.25 m. A viewing platform at a height of 72 m is available for viewing. The observation deck of the Latvian Academy of Sciences at a height of 65 m is also publicly accessible. these sights are great places for a date or a wedding photo session with a panoramic view. The roof ridge of the building of the National Library of Latvia, or the Palace of Light, is popular for holding various events, including weddings. If you are not going to get married yet, you can also go there on a date - unless the corre is reserved for an event, it can be viewed by every visitor to the library. In addition, you can combine the pleasant with the useful - organize a small coworking in one of the reading rooms with an impressive view over the Daugava.

Discover the industrial side of the city and go to the Zuzeum roof terrace to hang out in a modern and stylish environment, as well as refresh yourself with a refreshing drink. On Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, the terrace bar is open longer, so you can spend a leisurely summer evening with your loved one.

The Latvian National Art Museum also has a roof terrace, which can be viewed during a visit to the museum, as well as a special photo session. The terrace offers a refreshing view of the green Esplanade. After visiting the art museum, head to the nearby, modernly charming courtyard of 42 Dzirnavu Street, where you can have an Asian-inspired multicultural meal at the Nomad restaurant or treat yourself to exquisite French cuisine at the Franchie restaurant. Zephyrs , which is located in the yard of Sporta ielas 2, which is popular with the townspeople, charms with its carefree atmosphere. The big advantage of Zephyr is the large terrace, which is separated from the street, providing privacy. It is perfect both for an urban wedding celebration in an easily accessible location, and for a leisurely afternoon cocktail enjoying the onset of summer.

Terraces for sophisticated wedding celebrations

An excellent restaurant where you can hold a romantic wedding with a panoramic view is Grand Hotel Kempinski's Stage 22 restaurant . An excellent view, five-star service and an elegant environment.

Terraces near Riga parks and squares

In the summer, we especially appreciate the wide parks and squares of Riga. The green treasure of the center - Vermanes garden is a constant meeting and entertainment place for many. It also houses the elegant restaurant Whitehouse , which will be especially suitable for grand and sophisticated city weddings. 

A romantic walk through the Vermanes garden can be supplemented with snacks or a meal in one of the restaurants near the park. Right next to the garden is the Radisson Blu Elizabete hotel, whose restaurant CUT has a summer terrace. A little further along Elizabetes Street, there is a restaurant and wine room TINTO with a nice courtyard terrace. 

Viesturdārza alleys and triumphal arch make it one of the most royal parks in Riga. Equally regal is the adjacent Hotel A22 , whose roof terrace is available for private celebrations.  An equally excellent meal can be enjoyed on the cozy terrace of restaurant Ferma near Viesturdārz. 

A little away from the hustle and bustle of the city is Ziedondarzs, surrounded by houses. The right place for a peaceful date will be Paviljons Ziedondarzs in the most charming corner of the park. 

For a completely relaxed and free date with the feeling of being in an idyllic small-town garden with root beds, visit Sports Palace Gardens . Maybe even take a step closer to a deeper relationship and grow a garden together. 

If you want to celebrate your wedding in the city, but to catch a bit of the feeling of an estate, K. K. von Strick's villa will be a suitable setting. It has both authentic rooms and a closed garden, which creates the atmosphere of a private villa in the center of Riga.  Right next to it is the charming M/Workshop , which is permeated with jazz moods. It is possible to hold a wedding here, or go to enjoy a concert, and then linger in conversation on the spacious terrace. On the other hand, Annas Dārzs in Pārdaugava will be suitable for small and cozy celebrations, which really is like a real green oasis in summer. 

Riga center treasures - Berga Bazar and Old Riga

Berga Bazar is a historical shopping arcade, which nowadays has a place for various boutique shops, offices and restaurants with terraces for leisurely enjoying the lively atmosphere of the city. Cafe Andaluzijas Suns is a modern place for both dates and wedding banquets. Andalusian Suns has been around for 28 years, but is always changing with the times, offering new menu items regularly. 

There are several restaurants in Berga Bazar, each with its own specialty, so there will be something close to everyone's heart. Wine lovers should go to the wine bar Garage - a stylish place with a charming view of the courtyard and delicious snacks.  However, in the restaurant, Buržujs serves oysters, champagne and a selection of homemade ice creams. In contrast, Cydonia Gastropub has a cozy atmosphere and a menu consisting of proven values.

Go not only for a walk along the Bergs Bazar arcade, but also look over the roofs of the city from the penthouse apartments of the Bergs Hotel. The hotel also has a room for events - the Glass Hall. Old Riga is not only a popular place for tourists. Old Riga is especially beautiful in the morning, when the bustle of the evening has died down.
