GUIDE TO ONE DAY WEDDINGS

GUIDE TO ONE DAY WEDDINGS

One-day weddings are a popular trend in recent years, trying to compete with the usual wedding scenario - a wedding celebration with an overnight stay and shared breakfast the next day. One-day weddings are perfect for the city and often make the planning process much easier for couples.

LĪGAVĀM offers a guide to what to consider when planning a wedding without sleeping guests.

Suitable for a city wedding

Whether or not the wedding celebration will include catering, budget will matter.

It would be wrong to think that a one-day wedding will allow you to significantly reduce the budget, because relatively often those couples who choose not to spend on their guests decide to invest the saved part of the budget in other things, for example, more gorgeous decorations or a more elaborate dinner.

That is why it is not a misconception that a one-day wedding will perfectly suit the urban atmosphere of the city, when after the celebration the guests can go either to their homes or to the hotel (in this case, you should think about the possibility of paying for the accommodation of at least the closest family members who have come from other cities or often even other countries).

You can choose both restaurants and hotels as a venue for a one-day wedding (although they are not yet properly appreciated in Latvia, they often have excellent ballrooms and, no less important, high-quality service), as well as other industrial or less industrial celebration places.

“Vienas dienas kāzas ar tuviniekiem un draugiem ir koncepts, ko pāri izvēlas aizvien biežāk. Šāda koncepta kāzās, ja tās, piemēram, notiek Rīgā, viesi pēc laulību ceremonijas kopā ar jauno pāri dodas uz kādu restorānu pilsētā, lai tur turpinātu kāzu svinības, nedomājot par naktsmājām, brokastīm nākamajā dienā un to, kā viesus izklaidēt. Tai pat laikā pāri var vairāk budžeta atvēlēt muzikālajām noformējumam, dekorācijām un for other details important to the couple themselves," says wedding organizer Kristīne Strazda / GOLDFISH EVENTS.

The scenario matters

One-day weddings tend to be more concentrated than two- or even three-day weddings. Therefore, one of the recommendations for those couples who consider such a concept to be the most suitable for them would be to make the scenario of the wedding day as uncrowded as possible. It would be most logical and convenient if the place of the wedding ceremony and celebration was located relatively close to the couple's place of residence. Also, you should not plan long and long journeys between the ceremony and the celebration.

When organizing a one-day wedding, couples often use the opportunity to organize their wedding photo session as a couple already before the ceremony, so that after it they can spend the rest of the evening with their guests. The setting is important in a wedding of any concept, but a city wedding requires a certain sense of freedom, not a cluttered schedule.

Wedding organizer or coordinator

It might seem that if the wedding will take place for one day, it will be possible to do without a wedding organizer or coordinator, however, regardless of whether the celebration will take place for a few hours, one day or several days, helpers will be needed in the process of organizing the wedding.

That is why, even if you organize your big event yourself, think ahead and hire either a professional wedding coordinator who will take care of everything on the day of the celebration, or appoint such a support person from among the closest people.

Those couples who have held a one-day wedding most often name the following advantages:

  1. The next morning you can spend time alone, instead of going to breakfast with the guests when you are tired and sleepless. On the other hand, guests can go home after the wedding celebration by taxi or organized transport.
  2. If the wedding ceremony and parties take place in the same location, then there is no need to drive from point A to point B.
  3. The saved budget can be used for additional decorations, as well as hiring your dream wedding photographer or other service providers.
