How to combine the role of a mother and a business woman?

Balancing the role of a loving mom and a successful entrepreneur can be a difficult challenge, but with the right approach and organization, harmony is possible.

I am a mother of three children and manager of two companies. I'll share some practical tips to help you juggle these important roles in life. I'll just warn you right away that there is no miracle pill. You can approach balance by taking a deliberate set of actions. And don't expect 100% balance either, because that's living in an illusion. We constantly strive for balance and harmony - it's a never-ending process!

Set clear priorities

Determine what is most important to you right now. And be aware that priorities change from time to time. One moment it is more important for you to invest more time and energy in raising children and spending quality time with them, another moment in the expansion and marketing of the company. Prioritize to focus on the most important tasks right now. And review those priorities each week to stay focused.

Creates a flexible schedule

Uses a flexible work schedule that allows for adaptation to family needs. This could include working from home, flexible working or delegating tasks to a team, reduced workload or being able to work on a Saturday when the kids and dad have time together. That's one of the reasons why it's good for a mom to be a direct entrepreneur, because then it's easier to juggle.

Schedule quality family time

In addition to family time, it is important to ensure the quality of this time. It is not the amount of time that our family needs, but what emotions we enjoy during this time. Plan special family moments when you give all your attention to your children and loved ones. All your attention - this also means that you do not look at work chats and do not answer calls and messages during family time.

Schedule meetings with family members in the planner

In the same way as you plan work meetings in the planner - on the specific day, at the specific time, for the specific duration, you also have to plan time with your family. It's important to remember that you don't cancel family meetings, just like you don't cancel work meetings! If the child is waiting for time with you and you change it to business time, next time the child may not want to be with you.

Delegates and accepts help

Do not be afraid to delegate tasks both in the family and in business . Share responsibilities with a partner and/or hire business assistants. Accepting help will help you cope with everyday tasks more effectively. And as the number of children increases, so can the number of business assistants.

Integrate family into your business

Integrate family into your business, especially if you have children. This can involve them in decision-making and building family traditions in the work environment. By helping you in business, children can gain interest in business, their various skills will develop. Yes, it means that someday you will have a child with you to a meeting, Zoom or a work meeting. Remember that a child is a part of your life processes, not a hindrance!

Planning for the long term

Develop strategies that will allow you to combine the role of mother and business in the long term. Creates plans that take into account different stages of development of your children and business. For example, plan ahead of time what you will do when it's school holidays, when it's business trip season, when it's children's concert time, and when it's employee vacation season. Seeing the big picture makes it much safer to move forward.

Take care of yourself

Remember yourself! Make time for relaxation, self-development and self-care on a regular basis. To be successful in both roles , it is important to maintain your physical and emotional energy. When mom has full resources, children are happy. When an entrepreneur has resources, the team and customers are happy! If your resources are exhausted, many things can go wrong.

Adapted to change

The role of neither mother nor entrepreneur is a linear position - you will have to adapt all the time. Here the child gets sick, here the employee leaves, here the child needs to be helped to prepare for scientific research work, here the client wants extra attention. Your acceptance and flexibility skills will be decisive in this process!

Juggling the role of mother and entrepreneur requires organization, flexibility and a conscious approach. Create a harmonious balance that matches exactly your values and the unique needs of your family and business.

You will definitely succeed!
