WHAT SHOULD BE CONSIDERED WHEN GOING TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WORLD TO MARRY?

We have written about various exotic wedding destinations that have become more and more popular in recent years. However, no matter which part of the world you plan to go to to get married, all destination weddings always have something in common, namely flights and often a long way.

Stopover between many flights

Irina and Raivis got married in one of the most beautiful locations in the world - on the island Bora Bora . They admit that it is a real corner of paradise, but also requires a long travel time.

"The long journey and the time spent on it can seem very tiring, so it is worth thinking about a stopover between long flights.

We ourselves spent a couple of days in Los Angeles visiting friends. From Riga to Bora Bora island, we had to make five one-way flights and another crossing by high-speed boat to get from Bora Bora airport to our wedding venue - Four Seasons Resort ,” Irina recalls.

Do not let go of the wedding dress

Irina advises you not to let go of your wedding dresses, in the truest sense of the word, on your way to the destination of the wedding ceremony.

"If you have a connecting flight, there is a risk of losing your luggage. Even when your luggage is found and delivered to you, you may already have flown off to another location and be without your clothes on your wedding day.

Therefore, I recommend that you take the wedding dress with you in the cabin of the plane, as well as accessories, such as wedding shoes, in your hand luggage. Everything else can be arranged on the spot in case of lost luggage, but nothing will spoil the wedding as much as the disappearance of the wedding dress of the bride's dreams," Irina is convinced, recommending to read the rules for transporting the wedding dress of the selected airlines - there are some airlines that require you to buy a separate seat for it on the plane.

Speaking about the wedding dress and its transportation, Irina urges you to think about how and in what condition it will be delivered back home.

"If you have spontaneously decided to allow yourself to be persuaded by a wedding photographer for an unconventional photo session with jumping into the water in a wedding dress and suit or similar activities that involve getting the wedding dresses dirty, I recommend that you think ahead of time how you will transport them back - in the airplane cabin or in checked luggage, how much dry cleaning at the hotel will cost and other practical issues," advises Irina.

Wedding photo session and alcohol do not go together

Thinking about the wedding photo session, Irina recommends the bride and groom not to drink alcohol until the official part of the photo shoot is over.

  1. "First of all, it is also possible to see a slight intoxication from one glass of champagne, which was drunk during the bride's party, in the photos - those to whom you will show the wedding photos will probably not be fooled, but you yourself will definitely be able to tell.
  2. Second, alcohol is known to relax and loosen people up, sometimes too much, so it's important that you don't end up feeling a little sorry when you look at the pictures that you gave in to the temptation to "relieve stress" with alcohol.
  3. Thirdly, being crystal clear during such a beautiful event is a completely different feeling - it is a 100 percent "here and now" feeling," said Irina.

Not all properties may be available

When getting married in exotic destinations, you should take into account that all the props you dreamed of may not be available. "We had a funny incident with the balloons. We wanted to take a picture with the many colorful helium balloons, which might seem like a fairly common prop at a wedding. But those who know what it means to live on an exotic island understand that there are a lot of things that are not available compared to living in big cities.

Such an "unusual" thing turned out to be helium gas for filling balloons. It sounds strange, but no one before us had ever done this on Bora Bora before.

Our wedding planner, Aurelie, turned the whole of French Polynesia upside down, but somehow managed to get hold of a few liters of helium gas. She made us solemnly promise that we would hold the balloons tightly in our hands and not release them into the air, as this could interfere with intra-island aviation and cause an accident. We kept our word!” says Raivis.
